Senate Resolution 59

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING SENATOR TERRY JORDAN FOR HIS DISTINGUISHED SERVICE IN THE MISSISSIPPI SENATE.

WHEREAS, Senator Terry Jordan of Philadelphia, Mississippi, has chosen not to seek reelection to the Mississippi Senate; and

WHEREAS, his decision brings to a conclusion twelve years of dedicated service to the people of District 18 and to the citizens of the State of Mississippi; and

WHEREAS, Senator Jordan's proven ability was recognized when he was appointed Chairman of the Public Utilities Committee (1992-1993); Chairman of the Interstate and Federal Cooperation Committee (1996-2000); and member of the Appropriations; Constitution; Highways and Transportation; Judiciary; Labor; and Public Utilities Committees (1996-2000); and

WHEREAS, during his tenure at the Senate, he faithfully represented the citizens of Choctaw, Neshoba, Winston and Leake Counties, including the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians; and

WHEREAS, he is well known for his integrity, common sense and irrepressible sense of humor, all of which will be missed by his colleagues; and

WHEREAS, Senator Terry Jordan has distinguished himself as a highly respected legislator and has served in a manner which will be an exceptional model for his successors to emulate; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the Legislature to commend the exemplary service of the citizens of this state:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MISSISSIPPI SENATE, That we do hereby commend the distinguished service of Senator Terry Jordan in the Mississippi Senate, and we wish him success and prosperity in his future endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be presented to Senator Terry Jordan and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
